Software Engineer at Formspring in San Francisco, CA

Based in San Francisco, Formspring is a global service that encourages millions of people around the world to interact with one another in an authentic and meaningful way.  On Formspring, people can have fun, share insights and stories, and relate to the people they know or find interesting. Since our launch in November of 2009, more than 25 million members have joined Formspring, and they provide more than 10 million responses every day.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and build compelling new applications and services for our social networking platform. You should be passionate about building great software and solving large-scale technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build complex web applications and services
  • Work closely with product and design teams to define and deliver compelling new features and service
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams to build software that can scale

Qualifications

  • Expertise in programming with PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, or similar
  • Knowledge of MVC, OOP, and CAP theorem
  • Experience with MySQL and relational databases
  • Knowledge of NoSQL and distributed data stores like Cassandra, Riak and Redis
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud-based infrastructures strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Linux, Apache, and web hosting environments preferred
  • Sense of humor is a must-have
